MOORHEAD — Moorhead has announced that it will break up its curbside Cleanup Week into two.
The first week will be May 3-7 for homes on recycling schedule A, while the second week will be May 10-14 for recycling schedule B. In other words, the curbside pickup will be opposite of residents' recycling pickup weeks.
Officials said the two-week schedule will allow the city to complete the work using its full-time staff, lowering the risk to workers and residents.
The recycling schedule to determine cleanup weeks is on the city's website where residents can put in their address to see the correct schedule.
The city also said it will allow residents to use their big blue recycling totes during the week for excess garbage. Thus, workers will be able to tip the blue totes with autoloaders to eliminate a portion of the manual workload.

Last spring, the city canceled Cleanup Week because of the pandemic. Usually, more than 1,600 additional tons of trash are collected during the cleanup.
Most items will be picked up. However, electronics, hazardous household waste such as paint, construction materials and vehicles are banned.
Tires will not be picked up any longer curbside but can be dropped off without rims 24 hours a day during the cleanup weeks at the city's public works facility at 700 15th Ave. N. A dumpster will be clearly marked.
Household hazardous waste can be taken to 2729 Highway 10 East on Mondays and Wednesdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., while electronics recycling can be taken to the Department of Motor Vehicles shed, 1300 15th Ave. N., on Tuesdays from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
