KINDRED, N.D. — Officials say a 45-year-old Moorhead woman seriously hurt in a head-on crash last month in Cass County has died from her injuries.

Kandyce Blumhagen was injured when her car collided head-on with an SUV about 6 miles west of Kindred the evening of Jan. 12. She died nearly a month later on Feb. 5, the North Dakota Highway Patrol said Wednesday.

The highway patrol is still investigating the crash but reported a Ford Thunderbird driven by Blumhagen and a 2000 Jeep Cherokee driven by 69-year-old Alan Peterson of Forman, N.D., collided on North Dakota Highway 46.

Blumhagen's car remained on the road, and the SUV driven by Peterson entered the south ditch and caught on fire, the highway patrol said.

Peterson suffered injuries in the crash and a witness removed him from his vehicle, the highway patrol said. Both victims were brought to Fargo hospitals.
