"It's scary. I'll tell you that, honestly," said Chris Kirschenman.
He heard the shots as he was helping his fiancé clean her apartment by the Casey's on 30th Avenue South.
"All of a sudden I heard what sounded like fireworks," he explained..

He then went to the gas station to meet someone and noticed all the police activity. He learned someone had been shot and killed.
"I was quite a bit scared, I immediately went back to the apartment and said this is not good and we pretty much shut all the doors and locked up everything and decided we are going to stay inside here because we did not know what was going to happen next," said Kirschenman
BCA agents spent the night going through the large crime scene. It appears the shooting happened in the parking lot of an apartment building on 18th Street. However, the unidentified adult victim was found at the intersection of 17th and 30th. A bystander helped the person until EMTs arrived. However, the person died there at the intersection.
The shooter remains on the run.
"I hope they catch him though because that is scary out here having someone on the run like that," said Kirschenman.
