MOORHEAD — A St. Paul man is accused of sexually assaulting a woman at a Concordia College dorm room in Moorhead.

Clay County prosecutors filed on Wednesday, Nov. 23, a third-degree felony charge of criminal sexual conduct against Sean Patrick Anton, 20. A warrant for his arrest has been issued.

Court documents detailed how Anton and others went to the accuser's dorm room at about 9:30 p.m. Monday. The individuals drank alcohol and watched TV until about 1 a.m. Tuesday, according to a criminal complaint. Everyone except Anton, the alleged victim and another woman left the dorm, the complaint said.

The three went for a walk to get the accuser some fresh air and returned to the dorm, the complaint said. The other woman helped the alleged victim to bed, where the accuser passed out, court documents said.

Anton left for his own dorm at about 3 a.m. Tuesday but said in a Snapchat message that he couldn’t wake up his roommate, the complaint said.

The other woman eventually left for her dorm at about 3:30 a.m. Tuesday, according to the complaint. Surveillance video showed Anton going to the accuser’s dorm around that time and not leaving until about two hours later, the complaint said.

The accuser said she didn't recall most of what happened that night since she was over-intoxicated, but she remembered waking up with no pants or underwear on with blankets over her head, the complaint alleged. She felt like she was being held down and had pain consistent with a sexual assault, the complaint said.

"Due to over-intoxication, she was unable to intervene and recalled groaning in pain," the complaint said.

She told police she remembered Anton leaving the room and saying he was looking for his electronic cigarette, the complaint said.

Anton initially denied having sexual contact with the woman, the complaint said. He acknowledged going back to the woman’s dorm to get his e-cigarette, the complaint said. He eventually said he had consensual sex with the woman, according to the complaint.

Anton faces up to 15 years in prison if convicted. An attorney was not listed in Minnesota court records for him.

A Concordia College representative said the school notified the entire campus community of the report, and is assisting police in the case.

Alcohol is prohibited in traditional residence halls, the representative said, while limited quantities are allowed in campus-owned apartments and townhomes for students. It's unclear which dorm room the alleged incident occurred.
