MOORHEAD— Firefighters quickly extinguished a dryer fire early Wednesday, May 18 at an apartment building two blocks south of Romkey Park.
Emergency crews were dispatched shortly after 1 a.m. to 1210 19th 1/2 St S for a report of a dryer that was putting out smoke.
Moorhead police officers arrived before fire crews and confirmed that there were flames coming from a dryer inside the laundry room in the building.
Firefighters upgraded the call to a 2-alarm fire but were able to quickly extinguish it once they arrived.
Nobody was hurt and there were no people displaced.

The estimated cost of damage is approximately $5,000 and the cause is under investigation, according to the Moorhead Fire Department.
