MOORHEAD — On Monday, May 22, at 6:30 p.m. the Moorhead Public Library will be hosting "Recreation on the Red — Then and Now," a presentation by Clay County Archivist Mark Peihl.

From the mid-19th century to the early 20th century, Fargo-Moorhead area residents used the Red River for recreation on a regular basis, a release from the library said.

Later in the 1900s, residents stopped using of the Red River for recreational purposes, and have just recently rediscovered the "joys of river recreation," the release said.

To find out why this happened, interested parties can attend the event at the library free of charge.

For more information on the event, contact the library at 218-233-3757 or online at www.larl.org .
