MOORHEAD — The Minnesota State Patrol has identified two Moorhead women who were hurt in a crash along Interstate 94 Wednesday night, Aug. 17.

According to troopers, the driver, Shiraq Ahmed, 57, lost control of her car, went into the ditch, and hit the freeway wall on the east side.

She and her passenger, Ikram Sharif, 24, had to go to Essentia Health in Fargo with minor injuries, troopers said.

Their car was the only vehicle involved in the crash, and the airbags were deployed. The car was significantly damaged.

Our newsroom occasionally reports stories under a byline of "staff." Often, the "staff" byline is used when rewriting basic news briefs that originate from official sources, such as a city press release about a road closure, and which require little or no reporting. At times, this byline is used when a news story includes numerous authors or when the story is formed by aggregating previously reported news from various sources. If outside sources are used, it is noted within the story.
