MOORHEAD — A Moorhead man was sentenced on Friday, Jan. 27, to more than seven years of prison time for his conviction on a felony charge of first-degree sale of a controlled substance.

Brady A. Swanson, 35, pleaded guilty to the charge, which stemmed from his arrest in November of 2021, after Moorhead police and other law enforcement agencies stopped a vehicle Swanson was traveling in on Interstate 94.

Police said at the time that authorities had received multiple tips that Swanson and a co-defendant, Matthew B. Katz, were allegedly transporting drugs from Minneapolis to Moorhead.

During the traffic stop, authorities found hundreds of pills police said were suspected of containing fentanyl.

Swanson was sentenced in Clay County District Court to 85 months in prison. He was given credit for having already served 169 days in custody.
