MAYVILLE, N.D. — A Mayville man who took his own life during a police standoff last week was under investigation on suspicion of possessing child porn, according to a search warrant.
The warrant filed Wednesday, Jan. 25, in Traill County District Court said the North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Investigation was seeking evidence at the home of Steven Wesley Volla. Full story here.
NDSU president outlines program and faculty cuts, academic college mergers to fix $7.6 million deficit

FARGO — North Dakota State University President David Cook has outlined cuts to academic colleges, programs and faculty to deal with $7.6 million in funding reductions for the 2023-2025 budget biennium.

The proposals include reducing NDSU's seven academic colleges to five, cutting more than 34 full-time positions — including some tenured faculty — and eliminating or “teaching out” as many as 24 degree programs, which will affect around 100 current and 50 prospective students, Cook said. Topless woman accused of destroying Jesus statue in Fargo cathedral
FARGO — A woman has been accused of felony criminal mischief after allegedly toppling a statue of Jesus while topless inside St. Mary's Cathedral in downtown Fargo on Monday, Jan. 23.
Brittany Marie Reynolds, 35, was observed by Fargo police officers exiting the cathedral at 619 7th St. N. at about 6:24 p.m., according to court documents. Reynolds was detained across the street after she allegedly attempted to run away. Full story here.
