MOORHEAD — Fire crews responded to a major fire Monday night, May 8, at Pactiv Evergreen Corporation in Moorhead's industrial park and are expected to remain there throughout the night.

Minnesota Senate passes paid family and medical leave program

ST. PAUL — Minnesota’s Senate passed a paid family and medical plan Monday, May 8, by a party line vote of 34-33, with all Democrats in favor and all Republicans opposed.

Sponsors changed the bill before the final vote to give some employers slightly more flexibility in crafting plans while still assuring workers time off during major life events. Full story here.
North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum signs bill to restrict transgender K-12 students’ pronouns, bathroom access
BISMARCK — A new law in North Dakota places constraints on how transgender K-12 students are treated in school and where they can use the bathroom.
Gov. Doug Burgum on Monday, May 8, signed House Bill 1522 — among the last in a raft of socially conservative gender-related proposals to receive his approval. The legislation, which took effect when Burgum signed it, was one of the final bills the governor had to act on after lawmakers adjourned in April. Full story here.
