Name released in fatal crash near Glyndon

A woman from Mahnomen County ran into a semi shortly after 9 p.m. Tuesday, July 27, according to state troopers.

CLAY COUNTY, Minn. — A Mahnomen County woman that died after crashing her vehicle into a semi on Highway 9 just east of Glyndon has been identified as Rebekah Joyce Knapp, 41, of Bejou, Minnesota.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, Knapp was driving a 2005 Buick Lesabre eastbound on 28th Avenue North. The semi was headed south on Highway 9 when the Buick ran into the side of the semi at the intersection with 28th Avenue North in Spring Prairie Township just before 9 p.m. Tuesday, July 27, according to the patrol.

Knapp died at the scene. The driver of the semi, Steven Bergren, 48, of Lake Park, Minn., was not injured.

The crash shut down Highway 9 for about three and a half hours Tuesday night.
