MOORHEAD — Fire crews responded to a blaze at a three-story apartment building at 11:45 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 20, in south Moorhead after a resident in the parking lot reported seeing smoke coming from a top-floor unit, according to a release from the city of Moorhead.
The building at 3208 Ninth St. S. has 12 units, and the fire was only in one apartment, officials said. Other apartment units in the building were extensively damaged by smoke and water.
The building was evacuated for about 30 minutes, and no injuries were reported . The fire was reported under control within 25 minutes.
The Red Cross helped secure temporary housing for displaced residents.
Investigators are still working to figure out what caused the fire.
