JAMESTOWN — A 37-year-old Jamestown man died Tuesday, Sept. 20, after the UPS truck he was driving rear-ended a fuel tanker on U.S. Highway 281 south of Jamestown, according to the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
The patrol said the driver of the UPS truck, a 2022 Freightliner box truck, was traveling southbound on Highway 281 at about 9:45 a.m. following a 2010 Volvo fuel tanker driven by Cristopher Anderson, 52, Jamestown.
The patrol said the Volvo began to slow down to make a left-hand turn to go east near mile marker 64. The driver of the UPS truck attempted to swerve to the west ditch to avoid the Volvo and rear-ended the Volvo in the southbound lane, the patrol said.
The Volvo completed its turn and came to rest in the driveway facing east, the patrol said. The UPS truck continued southwest into the west ditch coming to rest facing southwest.
The driver of the UPS truck had to be extricated before being transported by Jamestown Area Ambulance to Jamestown Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, the patrol said.

Anderson was not injured. The patrol said both drivers were wearing seat belts.
The Stutsman County Sheriff's Office and Jamestown Fire and Rescue also responded to the scene.
The patrol is investigating the crash.
