Fans get rowdy after Kid Rock cancels North Dakota show

MINOT, N.D. — Kid Rock canceled his concert at the North Dakota State Fair on Friday night, July 22, due to stormy weather, prompting some fans to get unruly.

Kid Rock was supposed to take the stage around 9:30 p.m. after his opening act, Night Ranger.

On Twitter, Kid Rock said he was "SO PISSED OFF we could not play for a sold out crowd tonight in Minot, ND (because of high winds) — I know it sucks but none of us can control mother nature. Please be safe leaving and take care of each other."

A video posted by entertainment news outlet TMZ showed concert-goers throwing beverages onto the stage. At one point a fan climbed on stage, was tackled by security, handcuffed and led away, the video showed.

Ward County sheriff's officers were at the concert, and the sheriff's office sought to make clear that it did not decide to nix the show.

"The Sheriff's Department would like to clarify to tonight's concert fans that the decision to cancel the Kid Rock concert was not made by the Sheriff's Department. The Sheriff simply announced the cancellation. We did not cancel the show," the sheriff's office said in a Facebook post.

The North Dakota State Fair also issued a statement on Facebook, saying:

"Due to safety concerns of the high winds, lightning, and severe weather in the area, the Kid Rock concert had to be canceled. The North Dakota State Fair will be issuing refunds to all ticket purchasers."
