CARTWRIGHT, N.D. — A Montana man who died after a semi crash in northwest North Dakota has been identified.
Allen Ray Emly, 60, of Fairview died from injuries sustained in the Friday, Jan. 14, crash that happened about 6 miles north of Cartwright. He failed to stop his white 2014 Volvo semi at a stop sign while driving north on 154th Avenue Northwest, the North Dakota Highway Patrol said in a news release.
He struck a red 2001 Freightliner semi driven by 50-year-old Shawn Mitchell Flowers of Washington, Kansas, who was driving west on McKenzie County Road 16, the release said. Flowers was hauling 165 barrels of salt water, but no hazardous materials were released in the crash.
Emly was taken to a hospital in Sidney, Montana, where he died, the Highway Patrol said. He was not wearing his seatbelt.
Flowers was wearing his seatbelt and was not injured.

Cartwright is about 40 miles southwest of Williston, North Dakota.
