Name released of Bismarck woman who died in Mandan crash

Troopers are investigating the crash for potential charges, a news release said.

MANDAN, N.D. — A Bismarck woman who died in a two-vehicle collision on Highway 6 near Mandan on Thursday, March 16, has been identified.

Sandra Kraft, a 69-year-old woman from Bismarck, died after a 2021 Ford Expedition crossed over into her lane and hit her 2017 Honda CR-V on Highway 6, according to a news release.

The driver of the Ford, 46-year-old Melissa Kilzer, of Bentley, North Dakota, suffered serious injuries.

State troopers said Kilzer was wearing a seat belt, but it’s unknown if Kraft was wearing one, too.

Both were taken to a hospital, where Kraft was declared dead, the release said.

The road was covered with snow and ice at the time of the crash. There also was blowing snow, the release said.

Troopers are investigating whether charges should be filed, according to the release.
