Police pursuit sends driver to the hospital

GRAND FORKS, N.D. - An early morning chase ended with a driver being taken to a local hospital Monday, Sept. 28.

According to the Grand Forks Police Department, at 3:23 a.m. officers pulled over Shawn Bjerke, 51, for driving with a suspended license.

Bjerke got out of his pickup at 300 block of N. 12th St. and was addressed by officers.

Bjerke then returned to his vehicle and drove away from police.

Officers performed a PIT maneuver on the 1000 block of 15th Ave. S. and detained Bjerke.

Bjerke was taken to the Altru Hospital after complaining about neck pain.

Police say Bjerke will be charged with fleeing in a motor vehicle, reckless endangerment, driving under the influence, driving under suspension, possession of methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine, paraphernalia, possession of LSD and possession of marijuana.
