MOORHEAD — Dozens attended Doubting Thomas Farms in north Moorhead Tuesday for a working session on going green.
The Earth, Wind and Solar event filled the yard of the farm with new and creative ways to save energy.
Solutions presented included those as simple as planting trees to provide more shade and to block the wind. Other methods were a little more complicated, like a bicycle blender brought in by Prairie Roots Food Co-op.
They also brought in other items that are a little more practical and easier to find, like their electric car and solar oven. The group used the oven to bake bread with nothing but sunlight.
The free event was co-hosted by the Minnesota Farmers Union, Doubting Thomas Farms, Rural Renewable Energy Alliance, University of Minnesota Extension and Clean Energy Resource Teams.
