MINOT, N.D. — A Minot man has been arrested in connection with a fatal shooting of a woman, according to the Minot Police Department.
At about 4:50 p.m. Sunday, July 11, Minot police received a report that a gunshot victim was at Trinity Hospital. When officers arrived, they learned that the victim had died from her injuries.
Police said the shooting happened in northwest Minot, but did not give an exact address. Police have not yet released the victim's identity.
An investigation led police to 41-year-old Eric Clayton Venn.
Police found Venn in a vehicle, and he fled officers when they tried to arrest him, police said. Officers chased Venn until catching him northeast of Minot, according to police.

Venn was being held in the Ward County Jail on suspicion of murder, tampering with physical evidence and fleeing in a motor vehicle.
Venn had not been formally charged as of Monday afternoon. Court records did not list an attorney for him.
The motive for the shooting is unclear, as is the relationship, if any, between Venn and the victim.
