RIVERDALE, N.D. — A Riverdale teenager has died in a crash on Highway 200 crossing the Garrison Dam.

The 17-year-old's name was not released Monday night, June 7, after the collision about a half mile west of Riverdale at about 4:40 p.m.

The teen was driving his 2005 Pontiac Grand Prix eastbound on the dam crossing when he moved into the westbound lane while passing another vehicle, said the North Dakota Highway Patrol.

He lost control of the vehicle and began to spin into the scenic overlook parking area on the crossing.

A westbound Lincoln Sedan driven by Kevin Bartsch, 32, of Coleharbor, N.D., attempted to avoid the Pontiac but struck its side in the parking area. Both vehicles came to rest in the parking area of the overlook.
