FARGO — Several street and lane closures are underway in Fargo, while Moorhead will see work this Sunday, Oct. 17, on the Main Avenue railroad underpass project.

Fargo road closures include:

  • 40th Street North is closed for about another week between 12th Avenue and 15th Avenue for private underground utility work.
  • Second Avenue North in downtown Fargo is closed between Fourth Street and Fifth Street for private underground utility work through this coming week. Work is taking place at the intersection of Second Avenue and Fifth Street. The northbound lane on Fifth Street North will also be closed between First and Second Avenue.
  • Beginning this Monday, Sixth Avenue South will be closed between Third Street and Fourth Street South for the placement of a crane required for construction on a private building. The closure is expected to be in place for up to three weeks.

Two-lane closures are planned. The southbound lane of University Drive will be reduced to one lane in the 4300 block through Friday for a concrete panel to be removed and replaced for repairs. Starting this Monday, the eastbound lane of First Avenue North will close to traffic between 29th Street and 36th Street for underground utility work to be completed within 10 days.

Work on the underpass project at Main Avenue and 20th Street in Moorhead will run from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. for decking and form work to be done before the concrete deck pour for the final railroad bridge.

The work will help make up for some recent time lost due to rain so the bridge can be completed for laying of track on the approach in early November.
