HANKINSON, N.D. — People living in eight apartments above a hardware store have been displaced from a fire that started on Tuesday evening.
Emergency crews from several area fire departments responded to Post Hardware, located at 307 Main Avenue, in south Hankinson.
The fire started in apartments above the store, which is next to City Hall and a pharmacy, according to the Richland County Sheriff's Office.
The Richland County Sheriff's Office said the apartments were evacuated and no one was injured.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
The Hankinson Fire Department said crews will continue to monitor the building for hot spots, especially on the east end of the building.
The amount and severity of damage done to the building will not be known until crews can investigate on Wednesday.
Hankinson is about 50 miles south of Fargo just off of Interstate 29.
