CASSELTON, N.D. — The Gordy's Service Center in Casselton is a total loss after a fire tore through it Monday morning, April 29.

Casselton Fire Chief Tim McLean said fire crews were called out shortly before 5:30 a.m. after getting reports of flames shooting through the roof of the service center.

Nobody was inside the center when the fire started, McLean said. However, a firefighter was injured while attempting to respond to the fire.

By the time his department had extinguished the flames, the roof had collapsed, McLean said.

The department will continue to clean up the area prior to a fire marshal arriving to investigate the cause, he said.

The gas station near the service center was not damaged.

The Cass County Sheriff's Office also responded to the fire and closed off public streets to keep people at a safe distance.

However, Sheriff Jesse Jahner said those barricades would be lifted later Monday morning and he anticipated the gas station could reopen.
