JAMESTOWN, N.D. — A crash involving two vehicles left one seriously injured Saturday, Jan. 30, on Interstate 94 12 miles east of Jamestown.
At 8:22 p.m., a 2007 Ford Focus driven by 18-year-old Maren Schettler was traveling eastbound on I-94 when it lost control. According to a report from the North Dakota Highway Patrol, the Ford entered the median and traveled into the westbound lanes, where it was struck by a 2018 Buick SUV driven by 53-year-old Brenda Demars, who was traveling with passenger.
The Buick struck the Ford in the driver's-side door. The Buick stayed up on the left lane and the Ford traveled into the north ditch.
The occupants of the Buick, both from Grand Rapids, Minn., were taken by ambulance to Mercy Hospital in Valley City, N.D., for minor injuries. Schettler, from Bismarck, had to be extricated from the vehicle and was taken to Mercy Hospital due to serious injuries, according to the report.
Road conditions were icy, with fog and light snow.

The crash remains under investigation by the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
