FARGO — Lawmakers in Bismarck who had planned to hear a bill that would increase taxes for nonprofit gaming organizations decided to table it until later notice on Monday, Jan. 21.
Senate bill 2301 would set the gaming tax system up in tiered format, with larger associations paying larger amounts.
It doesn't sit well with West Fargo Hockey Association, which holds charitable gambling events to raise money for its activities.

"That would ultimately have a sizable impact on our organization's income, and then that would negatively affect the children in our organization," said association president Jennifer Kuhn.
Groups like her association now have one more month to figure out the details before the bill us up for vote again.
"That gives us some time to get our ducks in a row and address this as we go forward," Kuhn said.
