The weather in our region has been fairly consistently colder than average since the middle of January. That's only three months even though it feels like forever. The persistent snow cover and the gradual melting has kept our temperatures from soaring into those occasional warm spring days.

March 21 hit 41 degrees and that was our first day in the 40s since early January. It did not get to 50 degrees until last weekend when it hit 53 Saturday. The average first 50-degree date is March 16. We missed it by almost three weeks.

Sunday became our first 60-degree day when it hit 63 in the afternoon once the sun came out. This is only three days after the average. However, the average first 70-degree day is April 17 and with snow to melt and wet soil to dry, it is likely that milestone will be late this year.
