The month of May continued the spring trend of cool and dry weather. The average high temperature in Fargo during May was 65.7 degrees. The average low was 43.2 degrees. The average daily mean temperature was 54.5 degrees. This is 2.9 degrees cooler than the long term average mean. Four nights went below freeing and the coldest temperature was 22 degrees on the morning of the 12th.

The warmest temperature in May was 86 degrees on the afternoon of the 27th and that was the only day all month in the 80s. Thirteen days were in the 70s. Seven were in the 60s, seven were in the 50s and three days had highs in the 40s. Rainfall was light, totaling just 1.47", which is 1.14" below the average of 2.61". The only significant rain during May was the 0.96" that fell on the 4th and 5th.
