The Department of Public Safety and the National Weather Service will be promoting general weather safety and emergency preparedness to Minnesotans during April 12-16 for severe weather awareness week.
Clay County will be participating in the weeklong event, which includes tornado drills Thursday, April 15. Outdoor sirens and NOAA weather radio will sound.
At 1 p.m. Thursday, all National Weather Service offices that serve Minnesota will issue a simulated tornado watch. At 1:45 p.m., the National Weather Service will issue a simulated tornado warning for Minnesota counties. A second drill will occur again at 6:45 p.m.
