WEST FARGO — Dr. Matthew Lonn has accepted the position as assistant principal for Sheyenne High School.
Lonn began his career in education in 2005 as a high school social studies teacher for Red Wing Public Schools in Red Wing, Minnesota. In 2013, he accepted the position as assistant principal for the North Dakota Center for Distance Education, a position he held until being promoted to the Center’s superintendent role in 2019.
Lonn holds a bachelor's degree in social studies from the University of Mary, a master’s degree in educational leadership from Concordia University, and a doctorate in educational leadership from the University of Mary.
“Our interview panel is impressed with the level of experience that Lonn holds in education. Not only has he been a classroom teacher, but also an administrator at various levels," Sheyenne Principal Ryan Salisbury said. "Through these experiences, he has found unique, and successful, ways of bringing project-based learning into the classroom. We are confident that he will be a valuable addition to the Sheyenne High School community as we continue to educate all learners for tomorrow’s world.”
Lonn will begin his role with West Fargo Public Schools on July 1.
