West Fargo — Michael Stecher has accepted the position as the next principal for Heritage Middle School.
Stecher began his career in education in 2014 as a middle school and high school science teacher at Northern Cass. He came to West Fargo Public Schools in 2016, where he served as a seventh-grade science teacher at Liberty Middle School until accepting the Assistant Principal position at Heritage Middle School in 2020. He holds a master’s degree in educational leadership from North Dakota State University, a bachelor’s degree in biology from the University of North Dakota, and an education certificate from North Dakota State University.
“In his role as Assistant Principal, Mr. Stecher has made innumerable contributions to the positive culture that is so apparent upon walking in the doors at Heritage Middle School," said Assistant Superintendent of Secondary Schools Vince Williams. "His relationships with the educators, learners, and families at HMS will allow him to smoothly transition into this new role, without missing a beat on our journey to offering personalized learning to all our learners.”
Stecher will assume his new position at Heritage Middle School on July 1. He replaces Dr. Erin Spies, who is taking a different leadership role within the district.
