West Fargo students take 3rd at Envirothon competition

Students across North Dakota competed in the Envirothon competition May 10-12 for a chance to compete in the next round this summer in Canada.

WEST FARGO — West Fargo High School's Envirothon team "Meadow Larks" took third place in the North Dakota State Envirothon Competition held May 10-12.

One hundred high school students from across North Dakota gathered at Crystal Springs Camp near Medina to compete in the 23rd annual competition. The Envirothon tested students' knowledge on topics including soil conservation, aquatics, forestry, wildlife and climate change, according to a release from the North Dakota Forest Service.

First and second place went to Bismarck High School’s “Water Boatmen” and Minot High School's “Cormorant Comrades,” respectively, the release said.

As the winner of the Envirothon, Bismarck High School will represent North Dakota at the National Conservation Foundation Envirothon Competition in Canada this July.
