1 dead, 1 injured in west-central Minnesota crash

PRINSBURG, Minn. – A Renville woman was killed in an early-morning accident Sunday near Prinsburg that also seriously injured the driver of a second vehicle.

According to the State Patrol, Lisa Sunvold, 47, was killed when the 2002 Buick Regal she was driving collided broadside with a 2013 Freightliner semi driven by Walt Palma, 35, of Redwood Falls.

Palma was airlifted to St. Cloud Hospital with serious injuries, according to the State Patrol.

The crash was reported at 3:30 a.m. at the intersection of state Highway 7 and Kandiyohi County Road 7, west of Prinsburg.

The State Patrol accident report said Sunvold was going south on County Road 7 and Palma was traveling east on state Highway 7 when their vehicles collided.

Road conditions were dry at the time of the crash, according to State Patrol.

According to the Minnesota Department of Transportation, the highway was shut down temporarily while emergency crews were at the scene.
