MOORHEAD - A fire at the McDonald's restaurant at 3009 Highway 10 in Moorhead sent one worker to the hospital this morning.
Whether the worker was seriously injured wasn't known, but smoke inhalation may have been involved, said Jeff Wallin, assistant Moorhead fire chief.
Wallin said the fire was reported about 10 a.m.
He said light smoke was present throughout the building when fire crews arrived.
It is believed the fire, which was quickly extinguished, started in equipment below a deep-fat fryer, but the exact cause is under investigation, Wallin said.

He said physical damage from the fire was confined to the area beneath the fryer.
Customers were evacuated when the fire was discovered and none suffered injuries, according to Wallin.
As of 11:30 a.m. the business remained closed and customers were being turned away.
