10 food trucks at benefit Sept. 17 for slain Fargo food truck owner

FARGO — A food truck benefit will take place this week for the family of Jay Halvorson, who was murdered on June 7 , in downtown Fargo.

Ten food trucks plan to participate in the event, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 17, at Fargo Cass Public Health, 1240 25th St .

Participating food trucks include: Top Dog Hot Dog, Detroit Deli, Fargo Cheesesteak, Pico, Potato Brothers, Soul Taco, Fargo Fillies, Maria's Home Style Mexican, Poke Bowl and The Hot Dog Peddler. Proceeds will go to Halvorson’s parents, to pay for any remaining bills.

Halvorson, 38, of Fargo, was gunned down about 1 a.m. near his Texas Q BBQ food truck in the parking lot of the former Sahr's Sudden Service, 601 4th St. N., according to city police.
