FARGO - The 10th Street underpass at Main Avenue in Fargo will close at 10 this morning to replace and repair a damaged pipeline.

All three lanes in the underpass need to be closed to allow enough room for equipment and for the safety of workers and the traveling public, the state Department of Transportation states in a news release.

Crews will pour concrete on Monday and clean up to let the concrete set and cure on Tuesday. Officials hope to open the underpass by Wednesday or Thursday.

A detour will be in place routing traffic west on First Avenue South, north on University Drive and east on NP Avenue.

State officials say the pipe was likely damaged at some point during construction of the underpass this summer by a heavy piece of equipment operating above the sewer line.
