The Fargo Public Schools Development Foundation purchased more than 2,200 books for Fargo elementary schools to help students learn how to write.

The picture books will be available for teachers who want to use them for lessons. Each of the district's 15 elementary schools received about 150 books that are used as models for writing.

The money used to purchase the books came from the Eleanor Laing Law Fund, an endowment that generates about $30,000 a year for literacy, writing or library-related projects.
