DICKINSON, N.D. - Two incidents involving racism against African-Americans, including racial slurs being carried over the Dickinson’s Wal- Mart intercom, have been reported, according to Dickinson Police Detective Sgt. Kylan Klauzer.
The police received a harassment call at 7:45 a.m. Thursday from a 28-year-old African-American woman who said she had been followed by a vehicle in the Wal-Mart parking lot by a group of males. Inside of the store, the same group of males approached her and made comments about Ferguson, Mo. The same suspects also got on the Walmart intercom system and made racist statements directed toward African-Americans, the report stated.
That incident followed a similar report at about 9 p.m. Wednesday in which a male suspect was reported to have said racial slurs over the store’s intercom system. That same suspect also attempted to steal electric carts before leaving the store, according to the police report.
Officers identified the suspect’s vehicle on video and are investigating the incidents, and whether or not they are related.
Klauzer said the suspects in both cases have not been identified.
