FARGO - Police are investigating a stabbing incident that killed a 28-year-old man early Sunday morning.
Police officers responded to an emergency call of two males fighting at 1:38 a.m. When they arrived at 2608 Pacific Drive S., they found a 28-year-old man with a stab wound to his torso.
The man, whose name has not been released, was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim's address was not immediately known, and police thought he might have been homeless.
Officers detained an unidentified male for questioning, and the investigation continues. Asked if the man in custody was a suspect, Lt. Joel Vetter said, "He's just a person of interest at this point."
The two men in the altercation appeared to have known each other, he said. A motive was not immediately known.

"That's what we're trying to establish now," he said. "The two individuals have a history. It certainly wasn't a random act of violence."
Police are questioning others who were present during the fight, which occurred in a small apartment building, possibly a four-plex, in a southside residential neighborhood north of Spider Park.
"We are interviewing witnesses that were here during the incident," Vettel said.
The Red River SWAT unit, used as a mobile base by crime-scene investigators, was still parked outside the apartment late Sunday morning.
It didn't appear that the fight broke out during a party or other gathering, Vettel said.
