ELGIN, N.D. - A 28-year-old Elgin man was killed in a rollover accident early Saturday morning near here.

According to the state patrol, Jordan Heupel was traveling south on 70th Avenue Southwest in his pickup truck around 1 a.m. when he drove off the roadway and entered the west ditch.

He tried to steer back onto the road but overcorrected and lost control of his truck, which crossed the roadway and entered the east ditch, rolling over in an adjacent field.

Heupel was not wearing his seat belt and was ejected from his vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation.
