2nd contract awarded for erosion project

ST. PAUL - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers St. Paul District has awarded a second contract to H&S Contracting of Moorhead for stream bank stabilization repairs at Fort Abercrombie State Historic Site in North Dakota.

H&S was awarded more than $400,000 in September to stabilize one of two eroding banks. The corps now has amended the contract and awarded an additional $357,000 to H&S to repair the other bank.

The repairs will begin this fall and are scheduled to be completed in 2013. Erosion is threatening several historic building foundations at the fort and one foundation already has been lost.
