FARGO - After months of continual lane reorganization and construction, the 45th Street and Interstate 94 interchange in Fargo is open for motorists.
The North Dakota Department of Transportation announced the finished project today.
Crews will finish minor electrical work in the next few weeks, so some small lane closures can still be expected.
The reconstruction project added lanes to the bridge over I-94 and auxiliary lanes on I-94 between I-29 and 45th Street. A new northeast loop ramp was also added to the interchange.
The project was intended to improve traffic conditions on 45th Street South. The City of Fargo increased lanes on 45th Street between 26th Avenue South and 52nd Avenue South to accommodate an expected 65 percent increase in traffic by 2030.

The project was about $7.7 million with $6 million federal funds, $663,000 state funds and $1 million local funds.
