DICKINSON, N.D. -- The eighth mountain lion of the season has been killed. That leaves only two before the quota of 10 is reached in western North Dakota.
The Game and Fish Department tells The Dickinson Press that the cougar was killed either late Wednesday or early Thursday.
The lion was killed in Zone 1, which roughly encompasses the Badlands. Zone 2 covers the rest of the state and has no limit.
The season runs through March 31, though in Zone 1 it will close immediately if a ninth and 10th lion are killed.
