WILLISTON, N.D. - A man charged with murder in Williams County is now charged for having weapons in his jail cell.

An affidavit of probable cause says Tovias Carrillo, 49, had two shanks in the Williams County Correctional Center in Williston after a shake-down last month.

The document states officers found an 8.5 inch shank made of a sharpened object in his single cell bunk with a waistband of a pair of jail underwear wrapped around it for a handle.

The search also turned up an orange "spork" formed into a shank which had a sharpened handle and was 6.5  inches long.

Carrillo allegedly killed Juan Palacios, 51, with a firearm between Jan. 18 and 19 last year in Williston. Palacios body was found about 10 days later underneath a mattress about 13 miles east of Williston on Highway 1804. He's being held on $2 million bond.
