FARGO - An alleged Latin Kings gang member accused of burning someone who tried to leave the gang has been sentenced to a year in prison.

FARGO – An alleged Latin Kings gang member accused of burning someone who tried to leave the gang has been sentenced to a year in prison.

Albert Lira Cuellar pleaded guilty Wednesday in Cass County District Court to criminal street gang crime, a Class C felony.

In September, Cuellar used a blowtorch and spoon to burn the tattoos off a man who tried to leave the Latin Kings, according to police.

The 31-year-old from Houston was given credit for the 145 days he has already served in jail.

Charges of kidnapping, aggravated assault and theft of property were dismissed.
