Health officials in Fargo say they have another confirmed case of the West Nile virus in a dead bird.

The bird was picked up last week on Fargo's south side.

Brady Scribner, who works with the Fargo-Cass public health department, is coordinating the collection of dead birds in the area.

He says that so far, about 100 birds have been tested at the North Dakota State University veterinary lab, and two have been confirmed with the West Nile virus. A case in a Fargo area horse also was confirmed earlier this year.

Scribner says the department is averaging about 30 calls per week on dead birds.
