SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - More surgery is planned for Patrick Deuel, the Nebraska man who weighed 1,072 pounds before he checked into a Sioux Falls hospital for help in 2004.
Deuel has lost nearly 650 pounds in the 18 months since he had gastric bypass surgery.
The plan now is to remove a 100-pound mass of excess skin that hangs down to Deuel's knees. The surgery is scheduled for Monday morning.
Dr. Fred Harris said the procedure will help Deuel take off a little more weight and should make it easier for him to become more active.
