FARGO — Three area cities remind residents to clear garbage and recycling materials if they have been buried in snowbanks.
City officials say picking up the trash and recycling items in residential areas can be difficult with large snowbanks and drifts.
Sanitation and recycling crews ask residents to keep garbage cans and recycling totes clear of snow. The required clearance space so crews can pick up and remove items is listed below:
- Fargo: 5 feet away from any object including snowbanks
- Moorhead: 2 feet of clearance
- Grand Forks: 3 to 4 feet of clearance
Ensure trash cans are dug out of the snow. This will help to decrease delays in trash pickup.
