At least 2 hospitalized in major crash on I-94 in Moorhead

MOORHEAD - A major car accident on westbound Interstate 94 just west of Main Avenue in Moorhead sent at least two people to the hospital and clogged freeway traffic for several miles on Monday afternoon.

MOORHEAD - A major car accident on westbound Interstate 94 just west of Main Avenue in Moorhead sent at least two people to the hospital and clogged freeway traffic for several miles on Monday afternoon.

Police and firefighters responded to the crash at about 3:30 p.m. Monday.

Clay County Sheriff Bill Bergquist said at least two people were taken to the hospital, but he was uncertain of their conditions.

Bergquist said he believed there were three vehicles involved in the crash, which occurred on westbound I-94 between Highway 52 and 34th Street South.

Traffic was backed up about 2 miles from the site of the crash.

Police scanner traffic indicates that at least two people involved in the crash were unconscious.

Bergquist said the Minnesota State Patrol is handling the incident.
