DETROIT LAKES, Minn. - Authorities detained three males for questioning after a female reported being sexually assaulted during the WE Fest country music festival here on Friday, Becker County Sheriff Tim Gordon said.
Gordon said he couldn't discuss details - including how many people were allegedly involved in the assault - because he didn't want to jeopardize the investigation, which he described as "extremely complicated."
"We have a pretty substantial list of people that we have to interview," he said.
Those detained were released after questioning, and no arrests have been made, Gordon said. Forensic evidence was submitted to the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension for testing, he said.
The sexual assault allegedly took place Friday night in the Northwood campgrounds at Soo Pass Ranch, Gordon said. The alleged victim reported it to a deputy patrolling the campgrounds shortly after the music bowl was cleared because of inclement weather, he said.
