CROOKSTON, Minn. - The Polk County Sheriff's Office has identified the person who died and a man and woman who were injured in a head-on crash late Wednesday one mile east of Crookston.
Chad Michael Oakes, 36, of Crookston, was pronounced dead at the scene. He was alone in the vehicle he was driving and was not wearing his seat belt, the sheriff's office stated in a news release.
Gary Aure, 57, and Ardell Breitung, 60, both of rural Crookston, were in the other vehicle and were taken to Riverview Hospital. Their conditions were unknown. Both were wearing their seat belts, and the airbags deployed, the release stated.
The crash, reported at 9:35 p.m. on Polk County 11, remains under investigation by the sheriff's office and Minnesota State Patrol.
